Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller Review
Having kids is a challenge. Don’t get me wrong; they are a blessing, but since my wife and I had twins, we can sometimes feel overwhelmed. To help make our lives easier, we set out to find the best baby stuff that we could find. Whether it was durable clothes that will stretch to grow with our sons or a stroller that wouldn’t break down easily, we made it our mission to find items that we could use and abuse with impunity, both to save money and save our sanity. This time we set out to get the best double umbrella stroller for twins that is out there.
With that in mind, we chose the Maclaren Triumph Twin Stroller. This is actually our second stroller, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t use it all the time. When looking at twin strollers, we decided that it would be best to get two; one that would be the super deluxe model for day trips, and a lightweight one that we could use for quick transportation from point A to point B.
That being said, we love the Maclaren Triumph. We are already fans of the brand already, but this stroller is so easy to use and has taken a beating already without ever breaking down. If you’re in the market for a light, versatile, and super convenient stroller, then this is the one for you. We definitely rate it as one of the best double umbrella stroller for twins there is.
One of the first things that we noticed about this model is that it has some really great canopies. Most umbrella strollers have a dinky little thing that barely covers your child from the sun, which means that if our boys are napping, they will wake up as soon as the sun hits their eyes. If you’ve ever dealt with cranky toddlers, you know how bad that can be.
Thankfully, these canopies cover your children almost completely, forming something like a cocoon around them. That way, there is no chance of sun, wind, or rain hitting them, which is super important if they are asleep. Fortunately for us, they sleep a lot.
The sun rating of these canopies is UPF 50+, which means that you could be in the middle of the desert and they will work beautifully. We also like that they come with a rain cover as well, so that our boys can stay dry but still get to see everything (although it’s a little blurry).
Now you know why we rated it as one of the best double umbrella stroller for twins!
Side by Side Twin Stroller
When looking at double strollers, you have two primary options from which you can choose. First, you can get a stadium-style unit where the seats are lined up with one behind the other. Those kinds of strollers are ideal if your kids are at different ages. For example, you can have the older one sit in front while you have your baby in the back, or vice versa.
When you have twins like us, though, they need to be side by side; otherwise, one will feel cheated somehow. That’s why we chose this model. Not only is it easier to attend to both of our kids at the same time, but you don’t have to worry about squeezing through doorways. This particular model is narrow, meaning that you can go almost anywhere without having to worry about being too wide.
As far as weight, this stroller can hold up to fifty-five pounds, at least if you ask Maclaren directly. Realistically, however, you can put upwards of eighty pounds into this contraption without it bending or breaking. We sometimes load it up with bags and other junk, and there is never any problem.
Finally, being an “umbrella” stroller means that folding it up is a snap. As I mentioned, this is our second stroller, which we keep in the car, so we don’t have to worry about bringing our deluxe model everywhere we go. The Triumph is designed to fold up in one step, and it’s so lightweight that you can pack it up with ease.
As parents, our kids’ safety is number one to us. As a result, we want to make sure that any stroller we get will be able to keep our boys secure, which is another reason that we went with the Triumph. Unfortunately, many other umbrella strollers take it easy when it comes to the harnesses, which means that it’s too easy for little kids to get out, especially if they are squirmy and crafty like my boys. The Triumph, on the other hand, has two five-point harnesses which means that my little guys aren’t going anywhere, no matter how much they fuss.
When you’re a parent, you can never go anywhere without hauling pounds of extra gear and accessories. Especially with little kids, you need diaper bags full of stuff in case of any eventuality. With that in mind, the Triumph has extra storage underneath the stroller which allows you to bring everything you need without having to carry it on your back or over your shoulder. Many umbrella strollers don’t even have storage, so this is a huge step up in that regard.
Three Vibrant Colors
Are you someone who likes to stay stylish, even when it comes to baby gear? If so, then you’ll love the fact that the Maclaren Triumph Twin Stroller comes in three dynamic color schemes. The best part of each one is that the color is dark, meaning that stains and spills don’t show up very well. The three colors you can choose are black, blue (with silver highlights), and indigo. Personally, we chose the black version, mostly because we don’t want to have to clean up stains right away. But you may think differently and opt for another color. If we were more fastidious parents, we probably would have gone with the blue and silver option, even though neither of us are Cowboys fans.
Self-Service Replaceable Parts
Finally, our biggest reason for getting this stroller over the other ones out there is the fact that we can replace any component without any hassle. Most umbrella strollers come with the motto “you break it, tough,” but Maclaren takes it above and beyond by offering self-service replaceable parts. That means that if your wheels break, a harness comes out, or something else happens, you don’t have to buy a whole new stroller. As I mentioned above, we are all about finding products that will last, and with this replacement program, we can use this stroller with absolute impunity.

Q: Is it hard to attach the rain shield?
A: No, it’s very easy to setup, even if it starts raining before you take it out.
Q: Does it come with a cup holder or snack tray?
A: Unfortunately, it does not. However, you can buy snap-on cup holders separately.
So far, you’ve seen all of the amazing things that this stroller can do for you and your kids. But we don’t expect you take our word for it. For your convenience, we’ve also compiled a list of comments from real customers. Some of these have been amended for length.
“If you are looking for something compact yet robust, for the price this is an awesome stroller.” Jen E, Amazon Customer
“So far I love this stroller. We live in az which is why I purchased the newer model with the bigger canopy. It’s a must, and it’s really been helpful.” Yolanda, Amazon Customer
“The wheels are already squeaking (it’s only a month old), and it does not take curbs well. The sunshades are tip top, though.” Daniel R, Amazon Customer
As you can see, there is a lot to like about the Maclaren Triumph Twin Stroller. The biggest issue that we had was the price tag, especially given that it is an umbrella model. However, the features and replacement program make it more than worthwhile, and we are really glad we chose this unit. Again, it is a perfect second stroller for us, but if you’re on a bit of a budget, you can easily use this as your primary means of infant transportation.
Overall, this is a fantastic stroller, and I would highly recommend it to any family that has twins.
